Turn Your Dates In Caramel
My awesome mother-in-law took my Medjool dates and turned them into this awesome date caramel dip! If you’re growing dates, check out this recipe and give it a shot!
Date Caramel Apple Dip
Ingredients:
12 Medjool dates, pitted
Boiling water
1/4 cup heavy cream (plus more as needed)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt (to taste)
Optional: 1-2 tablespoons peanut butter for added flavor
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dates: Remove the pits from the Medjool dates and place them in a bowl.
- Soak the Dates: Pour enough boiling water over the dates to fully submerge them. Let them soak for about 20 minutes. This softens the dates and makes them easier to blend.
- Blend the Ingredients: Drain the dates and add them to a blender or food processor. Add the 1/4 cup of heavy cream, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
- Adjust the Consistency: Blend the mixture until smooth. If the caramel is too thick, add a little more cream, a tablespoon at a time, and continue blending until you reach the desired consistency.
- Optional Additions: For a nutty flavor, blend in peanut butter.
- Serve and Enjoy: Use as a dip for apple slices or drizzle over desserts. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
