Hi John, here's what we'll do for your ash trees.

What this changes for you

Getting to the root of what's stressing your ash trees

Mature ash trees showing dieback and stress get blamed on disease a lot, sooty canker included. What we actually see most often on trees like these is something simpler underneath: root flares buried too deep, watering that isn't reaching the root zone consistently, and soil that isn't feeding the tree anything real.

Those three things alone put enormous stress on a large mature tree, and stress is exactly what opens the door to secondary problems. Our plan starts by fixing the fundamentals on all three ash trees, then keeps feeding them properly over a full year so they can actually recover instead of just holding on.

"It's not what's attacking your ash trees. It's what they've been going without."
Exposed root flares, consistent water reaching the roots, and real feeding solve more tree problems than any spray ever will.
What you'll notice

A slow, steady turnaround, tree by tree

01

Less visible stress

Thinning canopy, leaf drop, and dieback tend to slow down and stabilize once the roots can actually access water and nutrients again.

02

Stronger seasonal growth

With the root flares exposed and consistent feeding in place, you should start seeing fuller, more vigorous growth through the coming seasons.

03

Long-term stability

These are large mature trees. Getting the fundamentals right now protects their structure and lifespan for years to come, not just this season.

Worth knowing upfront: this takes a full year

Mature trees this size don't turn around overnight. This is a four-visit, one-year program by design, each visit builds on the last, and you'll see steady, compounding improvement rather than a dramatic change after visit one.

The program

What The Garden Nerd does, tree by tree

🌳
One-time, first visit

Root flare excavation

All 3 ash trees get their root flares exposed at the base, so water and air can actually reach the roots the way they're supposed to.

🌿
2 of 4 visits

Deep root injection

25 gallons of liquid feed injected directly at the root zone of each tree, at the first and last visit of the program.

🪱
2 of 4 visits

Compost + chicken manure

Surface-applied around each tree on the two middle visits to build soil biology and structure over the course of the year.

📸
Every visit

After-visit video

A short video after every visit covering what was applied and how each tree is progressing.

Lifetime access

Before every visit

Advance notice

A text a few days before and the day before each visit. You don't need to be home.

🎁

Your cypress, taken care of at no charge

While we're out for the ash trees, we'll hit your 4 cypress with our spray every visit, no additional cost. Between visits, if you notice the fine webbing or stippling that spider mites leave behind, a strong blast of water on the foliage helps knock the population down.

🌱

Your new Chinese elm, checked and set up right

We'll also take care of the root flare on the newly planted Chinese elm in your front yard, at no additional cost. We'll inspect it, dig down to make sure the flare is properly exposed, and cut any girdling roots we find. Since it's a new tree, we'll hold off until fall to do this work, going in on it right now would put unnecessary stress on it while it's still establishing.
